Family Time
Well, I didn't do much today. Hung out around the house and spent time with the family. My dad cooked his famous hot wings tonight. I love when he cooks them. Everybody is always home and we sit around in the kitchen eating batches of wings as he cooks up more. Everybody having drinks and socializing; it's so much fun. I love to hear my mom and dad tell stories of them back in the day. One of the stories that I think is so funny: When my mom was about 13, her and a friend wanted to go to the "picture show" (movies for those of you who don't know-I didn't either). So, my grandma is driving down the interstate to take them and they get pulled over. The cop asks my grandma, "Ma'am, do you know why I stopped you?" Grandma says, "Well, I wasn't speedin' was I?" The cop proceeds to say, "No ma'am, you were going too SLOW. We have a minimum speed of 45 on interstates, you were going 30." My mom said her and her friend laughed so hard about that all night! She said she was so embarassed! That's so funny to me; I would be embarassed too if I was a young teenager in the car and my mom got pulled over for that! And my grandma thought she might have been speeding, that's too funny! I like when my dad tells stories too because I always get to aggravate him. He'll tell a story about drinking with friends or sneaking out/in. Then I get to aggravate him about always getting on to me for the stuff I did when I was younger. His philosophy to me has ALWAYS been: Do as I say, not as I DID! My dad's a trip! We are so much alike. Some of my favorite memories of us are at our old house when we would have food fights. He'd start picking on my about something at the dinner table and I'd toss a pickle or something on his plate. Then he'd toss it back and hit me in the head with it. That done it! It was an all out food fight then! We were bad about cracking eggs on each others heads (sometimes for no reason) or squirting mustard on each other. And I'm not talking about just a little-we would be covered in food. It was always so much fun! We haven't had a food fight in a long time-over a year. Since we moved in our house and he started his truckin' business he's not home a lot. I think tomorrow I'll surprise him with an egg on the head--I'll let y'all know how that goes! It's funny how we are so alike. People even say I look like him. That's weird considering he's my dad, not my father. I always tease my mom and tell her she must have had a drunken one night stand with him years ago and got me; and they just happened to meet and get together 8 years ago.
Well, time to go. I'm gonna get my room picked up and wash some clothes. Talk to you guys tomorrow!
